North had his first encounter with true sand the other weekend at Seaside during the annual Miller/Tweeddale/Hale family reunion. He was thoroughly amused. Filed under: Family and North and Travels Comments: 2 Comments |

As of a few weeks ago, Brother Ben has found himself in the great land of Costa Rica. Knowing that many BR readers have spent time in the land of sun/rain and surf, Ben asked that I quiz the masses as to suggestions for places he should go and things he should do. So be a good friend and leave a comment with some thoughts on the subject. You will be rewarded for your help with postcards stating hilarious phrases such as “The weather is here, Wish you were beautiful”. Filed under: Family and Travels Comments: 12 Comments |

Flying just seems to get worse and worse these days. I’m supposed to be leaving for Boston tonight to spend a couple days back at the NM “home office”. But now the news stations are reporting that a FAA flight plan computer went down and flights are not being able to file new flight plans. No flight plan filed = plane can’t leave. One interesting thing that came to my attention due to this mess is ireport.com. It seems to be the beginning of an organized effort to create news reports from people on the ground rather than traditional news reporters. Of course it’s owned by CNN, so who knows what the real motives are. But this guy is stuck in the Philly airport. Over the past 5 years I would say that 80-90% of my flights have had some sort of major problem. From the basic (overbooked) to the ludicrous (broken bathroom) I’ve had almost nothing but canceled/delayed/canceled/delayed. Thank god we bailed the airlines out with our tax dollars in 2001. Oh well, at least I’m sitting at home. That is a lot better than Andrew and Gretchen’s last crappy airline adventure. Filed under: Things I hate and Travels Comments: 1 Comment |

Sorry for the lack of posting. Since my return to the great westerly coast, I have been in a constant circle of family, friends, trips, travels, food, fun, and house-hunting. But mostly I have just been lazy. So very very lazy. Luckily the better brother has been keeping you all updated with locals haps and goings-on. However, I do have some documentation of a wonderful night spent earlier this week with my dear friends Ben and Katrina. You may remember them from such states as: Vermont & Massachusetts. Well they have someone snuck their way west and showed up in Oregon. Four states down (Maine also), forty-six to go! Filed under: Friends and Travels Comments: 3 Comments |
