So the story is pretty simple actually. Tony’s mom Mary has been fighting cancer and has started some pretty aggressive chemo. So Tony asked Davidson and I if we would shave our heads in honor of her. Mary being one of the nicest people in the world, we happily agreed. Tony’s brother in law (step brother in law I guess technically) and Mary’s husband Steve joined in as well. Just to be cute, and because Mary requested it, we first shaved our heads like Steve’s balding dome. The really funny part is that Steve didn’t get the joke until we were all done and then exclaimed “You all look like me!”. Pretty funny all the way around. After that it was down to business with the shaving cream and the bic. All in all one of the funnier ways I’ve recently spent a Saturday afternoon. Surprisingly, people don’t think I look too bad with no hair. I guess that bodes well for the future should my glorious locks go the way of the dodo. Then again, we all saw Jack’s reaction. Mary and Steve, all of Tony’s friends are thinking of you both. You are great people who have brought more than you know into our lives. Keep fighting the good fight and thanks for everything. I didn’t do much for my birthday yesterday except work and wipe a snotty boy’s nose. However, I had a really great weekend a few days prior. First off, TMTD 3.0 came down and was laid to rest. Holds are packed up safe and the plywood is mostly headed to the dump due to it’s condition after being on three walls (one of which was outside). Then Lars came up and helped me build out the second story of the shop to cover most of the total floorplan. And by “help” I mean he did all the design and difficult stuff, I ran around and played monkey-boy go-fer. Davidson also stopped in to help us lift the beams into place. It was like an old fashioned Amish barn raising, except I was the only one with a beard or a fear of electricity. Then Saturday night Stacey was nice enough to trick a pile of friends into showing up at the Copper Hog for beer and darts to celebrate my 34th birthday. The regular bham crew was there. But surprise guests included Joey and Reebs who were in town for the big Contra reunion show, plus Lars’s girlfriend (and our good friend) Cyrena, Jens & Kerri, Josh & Bethany, and Ben & Clarity who all made the trek up from Anacortes. Clarity even brought me brownies. Good times all around. Other weekend highlights include: Thanks everyone.
