Lost in the hubbub of pregnancy announcements and all the other thrilling happenings up here in the ‘ham is that fact that Stacey had a birthday the other day. Happy birthday (a few days late) to my wonderful wife. Filed under: Stacey Comments: 7 Comments |

Four years of rock-paper-scissors, cat injuries, nascar races, mt clothespile, newspapers all over the place, love, friendship, laughter and all the other stuff that makes our lives what they are together. One of the wonderful things about Stacey (and there are many), is that she really loves cooking and seems to enjoy the challenge of coming up with salt free versions of interesting dishes. Not only that, but her success rate is way WAY high. The meals she cooks are really very tasty. However, I think I have finally figured out what her secret ingredient is. There is a lot of it in the photo above, can you sleuth out the secret? Filed under: Food/wine/beer and Stacey Comments: 10 Comments |

Can you guess what the three things are? Wrong. You should have said: pulling weeds, a stick and looking the other way. Filed under: Jack and Stacey and Things I love Comments: 3 Comments |

I have resisted the concept of creating a Facebook profile for myself for years now. My thinking was that if people weren’t smart enough to Google “josh root” and realize that almost all of the front page of links were mine, then they really didn’t want to contact me. In addition, Andrew and I have run this blog for almost three years now, I have a very visible profile on a giant photography site (and have for over a decade), and I even show up regularly under my real name on a well indexed Washington fly fishing site. In short, anyone who wanted to get ahold of me could do so easily. However, I ended up making a Facebook profile last week so I could create a Facebook page for photo.net that users could be “fans” of. At roughly the same time, and completely unknown to me, Alicia convinced Stacey that she should make a Facebook page to connect with some old friends that she had found on Facebook. So laa tee da, now we have Facebook pages. Find them and be our friend if you are into that sort of thing. For that matter, I have a Twitter account updating my Facebook profile now as well, though it is completely based around photo.net goings-on. But can read it here if you are so inclined. One funny thing about Facebook is that it lets you say “I am married to this other Facebook user” and like everything on Facebook, there is a convoluted “please confirm that this is okay” system to make sure that you aren’t being harassed or stalked or loved too much. So you get this sort of thing:
And then after you say “I do” by clicking confirm, you get:
I like how it says I have “no more relationship requests”. Perhaps some stud muffins have a whole pile of Facebook marriage proposals just sitting there at all times. Nothing like keeping one in the on-deck circle in case your current marriage strikes out. I wonder how much trouble I would have been in if I had clicked ignore? I didn’t have anything exciting to post today. But I got tired of seeing Myke’s ugly mug up at the top of the page. So here is a photo of something cuter. Double cuter. Actually, this photo is dripping with indie-cred as well. It was shot on film (first roll of film in at least 5 years for me), is in black/white, and was shot with a Holga (the chinese plastic camera that the Lomography suckers love to overpay for). I’m like the photographic version of Conor Oberst. Filed under: Jack and Photo/Video/Film and Stacey Comments: 3 Comments |

Stacey celebrated her 30th birthday by shaving a cat. And yes, it was EXACTLY as fun as you think. Happy birthday wife-lady. I love you. Filed under: Animals and Stacey Comments: 8 Comments |
