aren’t cha all wondering how we did? hmmm? aren’t cha? well. let me tell ya bluntly. league isn’t all beer, bowling, and goodtimes. oh god no. it can be a difficult and grueling experience. ESPECIALLY when you are bowling against some wellmeaning, but slow, competition. sometimes i feel like we are frauds in the alley. like they can all tell that we aren’t all Metallica’d up. but we did blend in better than ever tonight with our fancyboy shoes! anyways, tonight we had Mean Gene on the squad. he rolled something fierce. Captain Benzo and Major Sliwka were en fuego as well. and me? well, let’s just say that i raised my total average by 1.5 pins. hollah. Filed under: Bowling Comments: 3 Comments |

wow. i went to graduate school for 2 years, spent thousands of dollars, volunteered 1,000 hours of my time as an intern… all for something that i could have just learned in 5 seconds from licensed psychiatrist Lucy Van Pelt. and sure, 5cents a suggestion doesn’t seem like much, but really it only took her a couple of seconds. that equals out to be something like $36/hr. not too shabby. Yam Roll is my new favorite cartoon. It’s about a walking talking yam roll and all his sushi friends. He drives a taxi, and I think he has super powers. Not to mention the fact that he has a tiny pillow man who brings him good dreams at night. The show has everything. It’s on CBC in the late afternoons. Canadian Television rules. Watch a clip on the Maple Shorts website. Or, go to the official Yam Roll website. Filed under: Things I love Comments: 3 Comments |

so The Bowlies made their league debut tonight. Team Captain Ben Johnson kept it real with a delicious 140ish average. His rolling was an inspiration to his less talented squad who had a 108avg (Katrina) and a 114avg (Andrew). ….although it should be noted that Andrew had a career high of 159 tonight. However his 86 and 98 did little to help his overall score. All in all we gave the “New Kids on Da Lane” a run for their money. We will all be working out vigourously for the next week, and with the addition of our ringer “Mean Gene”, I think we’ll do alright. here are some pictures. they are from yesterday tho. i was too engrossed in the game to dare snap a pic tonight. Well look at that, my comment on this post is the Comics Curmudgeon’s “comment of the week”. And to think that Stacey said that my life would never amount to anything, guess I proved her wrong. The Comics Curmudgeon (formerly known as “I Read The Comics So You Don’t Have To”), is my favorite non root-brother produced blog. Well thought out, funny, sarcastic, and all about a subject that is near and dear to the Root family, newspaper comics. Filed under: Comic Strips Comments: 4 Comments |

so what did we do to take advantage of the sunny, warm vermont day? highlights include: katrina rolling an awe-inspiring 157, ben saving a child from losing both hands, a random kid throwing a frame on katrina’s lane, some dude giving us free rophynol beer, …and pretty much everything deb said. (ps. pay no attention to ben and my scores. we bowled left-handed, blindfolded, and backwards. honest.) rumor has it that the “Bowllies” may be making their first league appearance. true? we shall see. I had an outstanding day on Saturday. Out god-damn standing. I woke up at the cabin up at Snoqualmie, had a leisurely breakfast and shot a few photos. Then spent the morning riding in perfect sunny, soft, spring conditions. The halfpipe was in great shape and all the jerks were busy with a “big air” competition. I left the hill at lunch, and headed down to Seattle so I could catch up with Tony after his return from Costa Rica. I heard some great stories, then headed back to Anacortes and went climbing at Mt. Erie with my beautiful wife. We had Powerline Wall all to ourselves in the late afternoon sun.
And THEN, Stacey and I had a bowling date with two cute girls (and their parents). You’ll notice that Stacey scored higher than Maya and Chloe by 2 & 4 pins respectively. Way to beat those 6 year old girls! All in all, it was an amazing day. Filed under: Bowling and Friends and Josh's random life and Maya & Chloe and Things I love Comments: 2 Comments |
