i sure do love spending time with friends, family, and whatnot. and while Griff, Lad, & Baila[sic?] are all great dogs, i do miss Ash something fierce. thankfully through the power of the interweb (“Now on Computers!”) i get to see firsthand all the goodtimes he is having on his vacation in Maine. special thanks to Jenn for stepping up and taking care of my boy. So it’s bad enough that the GBP is killing the USD in exchange rates, everything over there costs like, a million dollars. But now the UK can rub our noses in the fact that our gummy snakes are tiny compared to theirs. What, do we have a cow hoof shortage around here that is causing us to have to scale back our gummy candy arms race? How can the USA be 22 inches behind the UK in gummy snake size? Lousy Brits. I call for an immediate tax on all vegan cheese to pay for research into creating larger and more impressive gummy reptiles. The USA will prevail! Filed under: Food/wine/beer Comments: 7 Comments |

so haven’t we all been inundated with just a few too many “Best of 2006″ lists over these past weeks? i know i have. …however, the culminating “indie” site Pitchfork Media just released who/what they deem to be the uber-cool of ought-seis. and guess what? my TOP 10 barely ranked on their TOP 50. so what does it all mean? well obviously that Pitchfork is off their indierockers, and that i am truly the only one you can trust in the world. so sad. here is how my list did against theirs: 10. ahh hell. whatever. listen to the new (radiorip) Arcade Fire song, Intervention. Stacey and I went out to eat at AW Asian Bistro, a resturant in Fairhaven, the other night. I got to eat sushi for once, and Stacey was happy because there was plenty of Thai and other Asian inspired foods. Both of us were pleased with the food quality. The service however, was horrible. Slow and incorrect. However, I got to entertain myself with the handy instructions on the chopstick package. The lesson starts off okay. Basic, straightforward, bizarre length fingers. Still doing alright. “Hotd” is odd, especially considering that they spell “hold” correctly two words later in the sentence. But the point gets across. Now we are into a real mess. “Move its second one up and down, up anyching”, what does that even mean? Thank god I don’t know how to read, or I would really have been confused. Without further ado here is my official TOP 10 ALBUM LIST OF 2006
okay dokey. this was a tough list. specifically for 7 - 10. lots of other albums could have made it into these slots. Arizona - Welcome Back Dear Children; Peter Bjorn & John - Writer’s Block; Grizzly Bear - Yellow House; Swan Lake - Beast Moans; Pinback - Nautical Antiques; Sufjan Stevens - The Avalanche; Two Gallants - What the Toll Tells…. the list goes on and on. but i guess that is what makes the top 10 so challenging. gotta place some limits. Like not including EP’s. MYKE. In honor of all the great bands that produced beautiful tunes this year I put together a Best of 2006 mix that I hope you all will enjoy. It is hosted on YouSendIt and hence will be active for 7 days or 100 downloads. Whatever comes first. Enjoy and let me know what you think. I broke the file up into two zipped files for slightly easier downloading: Best of 2006 - I (60mb) ps. myke is the only other of my friends that takes nerdy music as serious as I. so it is only right that he has his top 10 published as well: Filed under: Cool Kid Music Comments: 6 Comments |
