Look out marriage, here comes another pair of crazy kids! At a Mexico near you, Spring 2008! Yes, it’s a repeat photo. It was a long night with Jack and my brain is too addled to find one that hasn’t been used. Sue me. Filed under: Friends Comments: 10 Comments |

I told Maya and Chloe that their photos would be up on Brothersroot after their visit to meet Jack. Little did I know that my computer would be hacked into and my images would be stolen by a competing blog. So you are going to have to go visit that “other” Root blog if you want to see them. The nerve of some people. Filed under: Maya & Chloe Comments: 3 Comments |

Big adventures this weekend. Stacey, Ben, & I took Jack to the last Bellingham Roller Betties bout of the season. With two good friends on the team, we’ve been meaning to get to one of their bouts for, oh, about a year now. It was actually fairly confusing seeing Roller Derby for the first time. Yeah, there are rules. But when viewing for the first time, they are in evidence in sort of the same way that food fights have rules. Still, plenty of fun. Particularly if I were there with a bunch of rowdies and enjoying the beer garden. As it was, I was there with an old man, a young man, and my wife. Plus, I’m not much of a “rowdy” these days. I’d rather trade my drink tickets for a few hours of sleep. After that we headed to Boundary for some food and beer. Andrew, Myke, and the visiting Nimisha joined us and we moved on to Rudy’s and then Uisce for pizza, beer, darts and so on. Or course, we had to ditch Stacey and Jack before the last leg of this adventure. Jack already got 86′d from the Brown for being underage, so we didn’t need more of that. Ran into Joe Wilbur at Uisce and he joined us for some dart contests. Good times all around. Filed under: Family and Friends Comments: 2 Comments |

Jack’s paternal Great-Grandma appeared on the scene a few days ago to meet the little fellow. She made the 3000 mile trek from the devil land of Florida. We’re very happy to have her back over on the left-coast. The seldom seen Other-Brothersroot came to visit as well. 10 hours in the car from Ashland brought Ben to our door. He looks very cute holding his nephew (and only a little nervous). With Andrew’s return from Bean-Town, all three Root brothers are living in the pacific northwest for the first time in 4-5 years. At least for the moment anyway. Filed under: Family Comments: 2 Comments |

I think my bar of soap has an eating disorder. Either that or Stacey and I have a hand-washing disorder. Seriously, what the heck is going on in my bathroom? How does this happen? Filed under: Josh's random life Comments: 3 Comments |

Father’s day has been, shall say, less than thrilling for me over the past 11 years or so. Particularly as I grow older and think of more and more stuff I would have liked to ask my father. Though I doubt that he would have had any answer for how to wire in a new 220v circuit in the garage. He probably could have given me some good advice on tricking your wife into letting you buy more useless junk for whatever the “hobby du jour” was. In any case, I was feeling kind of crummy this morning watching a cheesy “ode to our great fathers” sports montage before today’s nascar race. So I picked up Jack from the car seat where he was snoozing, you know, just to hold him for a bit. Then, as I was grousing to myself and missing my dad, Jack cut the biggest juiciest stinkiest fart ever, and I couldn’t help but laugh at him. Especially since his farting/crapping relief face is pretty funny in it’s own right. Thanks for cheering me up Jack. You’re going to be a great kid.
