Here sippy sippy sippy…
Posted on 09.29.08 by Josh Root @ 7:29 pm

Jack took a swing at using his sippy cup while his Nana was here the other day (Mothersroot is going with “Nana” as her grandmother name). It’s a weird “high tech” sippy cup where he has to actually suck on the sippy part to make it work. Aparently it’s like a cup/bottle hybrid. I guess that’s cool, I hear hybrids are hip these days.

Full HD version and whatnot here.

Evan & Simpsons = Work?
Posted on 09.28.08 by Andrew @ 11:12 pm

Today should have been an amazing day:
Evan is in town and it’s his birthday.

AND the Simpsons kicked off their 20th season.

Yet somehow I ended up having to work from 5:30pm - 10:45pm. Awesome. Sorry Saxtor and sorry Simpsons. Total bummer. (on the plus side, Morkleson IPA was brewed earlier in the day. Thank goodness for beer!)

Jack & Stacey are beautiful.
Posted on 09.25.08 by Josh Root @ 8:53 am

Here are two things I love.

I didn’t have anything exciting to post today. But I got tired of seeing Myke’s ugly mug up at the top of the page. So here is a photo of something cuter. Double cuter.

Actually, this photo is dripping with indie-cred as well. It was shot on film (first roll of film in at least 5 years for me), is in black/white, and was shot with a Holga (the chinese plastic camera that the Lomography suckers love to overpay for). I’m like the photographic version of Conor Oberst.

Bottle time for Pale Crack Ale was yesterday. Here we see Mr. Myke holding our first 22 of tastiness. Hurry up and place your orders. Supplies are limited.

Dead Guy Economics 101
Posted on 09.17.08 by Josh Root @ 6:11 pm

Oh, he can't drink it all. Lightweight.

Looking for your own growler so you can take advantage of the new brewpub here in Bellingham (or the old one)? Head to your friendly neighborhood Community Food Co-Op and pick up this growler of Rogue Dead Guy. $12 for 64 ounces is just an average deal. But the free growler is a $5-8 value. Good times and good beer.

Also, Jack is cute.

Watch you think about this bling?
Posted on 09.16.08 by Josh Root @ 8:35 am

Holla! Now I need a 2nd watch to tell time.

Check it out. This is the kind of shiz that a high flying internet job will get you. Take THAT Andrew, all snotty with your “social services” career. I’m all about the bling-bling up in this bia’tch.

Plus, I think it goes really well with the “Jack-Stacey” beaded bracelet I made the other week at Camp Erin. Style is what you make it folks. Don’t let the man tell you what looks good.

Teebs On The Loose!
Posted on 09.15.08 by Andrew @ 10:01 am

Watch out! There are reports coming in from Hawaii that an escaped Velociraptor has escaped the island and made it to the mainland. Rumor has it he was last seen in Portland eating wok’s and catching Swifts. Heaven help us…

New curbs to stop idiot drivers
Posted on 09.14.08 by Josh Root @ 6:55 pm

Obey the sign! Follow the painted lines, to less traffic!

Remember this? Well the resolution that the city came up with for too much traffic on our street is finally happening. They have been promising us that it would be built all summer, but it looks like construction will start on Monday.

The plan is that they will extend the curbs out to cut off half the road on this corner and the other half of the street two blocks up. This will essentially turn it into a one-way street. Though it would be more accurate to say that it turns it into an exit-only one. Since we will all have to enter via the street to the north of us and one block will exit to the north of that and our block will exit to the south (via the intersection pictured). If that makes any sense.

In any case, it should mean a LOT less traffic hauling ass through our neighborhood to skip the lights on James street. Amen to that.

Mother Nature takes one for the teeth
Posted on 09.12.08 by Josh Root @ 11:56 am

All that trash just to keep my teeth clean

This goes into the “I know it’s not the best thing I could be doing, but I’m doing it anyway” folder.

Much to my mother’s annoyance, I have NEVER been good at flossing my teeth. Oh, I’ve brushed my teeth at least twice a day since forever. And with the amount of water I drink, fluoride was going to protect me from cavities (interesting note, Bellingham does not have fluoride in it’s water. There’s even a website on the issue. I guess it’s a big deal here). But I never got into the habit of flossing as much as I should, and I consistently heard about it at dental checkups.

For some reason I bought a bag of these little flossing things the other month. I don’t know if I thought they would encourage me to floss more, or if I just happened to be at Rite-Aid with something stuck in my teeth. But the point is that I bought them. And I have to say, they make flossing WAY easier. I have flossed my teeth EVERY SINGLE DAY for the past two months. Laugh all you want, but I’m guessing that there aren’t too many BR readers that can make the same claim.

Now, what I feel bad about, of course, is that I am creating a lot more waste just because I’m too lazy to floss my teeth the normal way. But we all make choices in how our actions affect the earth. And in this situation, I’m choosing to not have to gum my food when I retire. Perhaps I’ll cut out those peregrine falcon omelets to make up for it.
