BlakeBlakeBlakeBlake batchlor party GO!
Posted on 02.28.09 by Josh Root @ 8:29 pm

Sax says He wanna rock!
Joe Strummer came along for the ride. Congrats Blake.

And we are celebrating the last days of Blake as a single man. All hail the dead man walking. Not to mention that we should all hail the glam-rock coverband lead singer from the bar last night. Good times.

Andrew and Myke have been roundly mocked for their lack of attending. They are teh suxxxxx.

A pretty cool birthday weekend
Posted on 02.25.09 by Josh Root @ 8:55 pm

Since when do you have to read at the strip club? Always happy to support a friend's artistic projects!
Jack is non-plussed about his mush. Sure, I could do it myself all the time. But why?
Andy likes to ponder. Jack grandparents love him enough to keep him overnight. Ribs, scotch, and cake. Good times.

I just wanted to say “thanks” to everyone who helped use have a really fun weekend. Cheryl and David (Stacey’s parents) were kind enough to watch Jack overnight, Mothersroot took us out to see the Lion King stage production in Seattle for my birthday present, Davidson had dinner with us and took us to see his girlfriend Melissa’s burlesque show, Vera (Stacey’s grandma) skipped out of town (with a ride from Alicia) and let us stay the night in her downtown Seattle condo, and after all that, David and Cheryl made me ribs and a cake for a one-day-early birthday dinner. I even got a nice bottle of scotch, a scratch lotto ticket (won $100), and a really cool Koa wood fountain pen. To top it all off, Cheryl came up to our house the next day to watch Jack for a few hours so Stacey and I could go have a drink for my real birthday.

I have a great group of family and friends. Thank you everyone. We love Jack more than anything. But it was really nice to get out of the house and just spend time together doing some non baby-related fun stuff.

Just in case anyone was wondering, Jack loves ribs (or at least the bones).

Dem bones, dem bones.

Jack says “Thank you Michelle!”
Posted on 02.19.09 by Josh Root @ 3:49 pm

No more doghair! (for another 5 minutes anyway)

Our friend Michelle is great. She comes and cleans up our dog hair covered house. Which is really great now that Jack is worming his way all over the floor. I just wish it would stay clean for more than 15 minutes.

Thanks Michelle!

Trader Joe’s
Posted on 02.18.09 by Andrew @ 7:55 pm

YoutTube has a lot of garbage and a lot of gems. This one in particular strikes a special chord for all of us who have ever had the thrill and anguish of shopping at a Trader Joe’s.
I suggest you head over to YouTube and watch it in high quality.

You won’t see this reported in the “liberal” media
Posted on 02.11.09 by Josh Root @ 11:42 am

That's quacktastic!

Straight from the front page of the Bellingham Herald to you. You won’t see this sort of hard hitting truthiness reported in your big-city “liberal elite” newspapers. We’re keeping it real here in B-ham.

Slightly related and modified Simpsons quote:
Kent Brockman: How’s the community dealing with the spiritual duck vacuum? Lets ask Arnie Pie in The Sky.
Arnie Pie: You want to know what I see, Kent? I see a slow news day with nothing to fill it!
Kent: Arnie, you’re supposed to be filming people coping with the loss of their church ducks…
Arnie: And how am I supposed to do that? Do I have a magic lens that can see into people’s souls? Well yours would be black, Kent, Black as the ace of spades!

EDIT: I do want to add that, while I find the front page headline hilarious, I feel bad for the guy who lost his ducks. That has to suck. They sound like good people and were even selling their duck eggs to the co-op. I do not feel sorry for the dog owner who sounds like kind of a dumbass.

1/4 ton of pizza oven
Posted on 02.10.09 by Josh Root @ 2:32 pm

Are you sure one of us can't lift from the inside? Debate on aesthetic placement.

So where is Josh? Oh yeah, not lifting. Finally installed.

Special thanks to Lars, Saxtor, Wren and Sizemore for coming over and helping to move Warren’s 500 pound pizza oven into place. In typical “root family” fashion (yes Warren, even with a different last name the “root” stigma still rubs off on you), the pizza oven was oval and the stand they sell with it was round. Real great design there.

Still though, we got it installed with no hernias and no crushed fingers. Which was a minor miracle in and of itself.
