You want to know why the country is broke? It’s because all those economic stimulus projects must have gone WAY over budget. What’s that you say? We couldn’t possibly be paying $500,000,000 for 6 blocks of repaving and wide-ass sidewalks in old-town Anacortes? Read the sign sucker. I gotta get Dean Maxwell and the city council to write me a grant application for something. Given their success on 6th st, I should be able to get $100,000/yr just to stare at my belly button lint or something. $500 million is some serious safety though. I have to admit that. They should make those signs into t-shirts for gov. administrators to wear. Oh wait “75k a year to go to meetings about furthering discussions on the length of meetings” doesn’t quite make you feel like your tax dollars are hard at work.

I was thinking part of the problem is that about half the population doesn’t pay any federal income taxes. Not only did we not pay any for 2009, we got money! Explain the logic in that! (I’m probably the 1 person in this situation who thinks this is dumb).

I’m also curious how many jobs are created by this little project
